Istanbul Airport

Atatürk International Airport is the major international airport in Istanbul, Turkey. Located in Yeşilköy, on the European side of the city, it is 24 km (15 mi) west of the city centre. With passenger traffic of 28.5 million for the year 2008, it is projected to be among the top 40 airports in the world in terms of total passenger traffic and top-35 in terms of international passenger traffic. It is Europe’s 10th busiest airport.

It is situated 1.7 NM (3.1 km; 2.0 mi) west of Keflavík, about 50 km (31 mi) from Reykjavík. The airport has two runways and the airport area is about 25 km2 (9.7 sq mi). Most international journeys to or from Iceland pass through this airport.
